MANAGING PARTNER

Mrs. Jemimah Aluda is the Managing Partner of JC & Company Advocates. She holds a Masters of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and is currently finalizing Masters of Arts in Project Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi.

With over ten years post admission experience, Mrs. Aluda is experienced in criminal law having served at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for nine years. Her experience includes prosecuting economic crimes, sexual and gender based violence cases, Children in conflict with the law and other penal offences.

Jemimah has immense experience in electoral matters and was the technical officer on the formulation and enactment of the Election Offences Act, 2016 representing the ODPP in the Chapter Six committee on vetting of aspirants during the 2017 Elections; Development of standard operating procedures on Election Offences; Development of Conciliation Guidelines on Hate Speech Cases; and Development of the Check List on Electronic Evidence and samples charges on election offences.

She has been instrumental in the development of the Diversion Policy and the Plea Bargaining Guidelines and Explanatory Notes, Alternative Justice System Policy that enhances the use of alternative and traditional justice mechanisms to address conflicts.

MERCY MUENI is the newest inclusion in the Jemimah Collins Advocates team. She holds a bachelor of laws degree, upper division from the Riara University School of law and currently finished Kenya School of law awaiting admission. She is a versatile, resourceful and highly proactive young lawyer, exuding an uncommon flair for perfection.

 

She exudes unmatched understanding of intricate and complex legal issues in the emerging fields of law. She has garnered considerable experience and demonstrates impeccable skills in consultancy, probate & administration law, civil law, criminal law, children law, family law, labour law, conveyancing, commercial Law, debt recovery and human rights law.

 

She also has skills in legal research, drafting, training, negotiating and advising clients on all areas of the law and emerging issues. Mr. Kevin Mwangi is a Legal Advisor on national, regional and International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. Mwangi is an innovative, dedicated, diligent legal professional, with over 5 year’s global experience, working on human rights. He practices in the areas of legal analysis, legislative drafting, and public interest litigation among other disciplines. Mr. Mwangi has amassed expertise in law reform, democratic governance and constitutionalism at the national and regional level.

He has worked extensively on projects seeking to ensure the realization of human rights at the regional and global level including leading Kenya in drafting of reports to the Human Rights Committee on the International Covenant on Civil and Political rights and the Universal Periodic Review. He has participated in key discussions with development partners and civil society organizations towards interrogating emerging trends in the realization of human rights in Kenya and across the African Continent. Mr. Mwangi is highly experienced and effective in human rights advocacy, developing case strategies and writing persuasive briefs, he thrives in dynamic environments and quickly adapts to the ever-changing demands of the legal field. He is passionate about using constitutional and human rights law to address systemic deficits in the protection of marginalized groups and communities and challenging legislation, policy decisions and administrative action offending the Constitution of Kenya and fundamental rights in international law.

 

Currently, Mr. Mwangi sits as an Expert Member at the African Union division working on Human Rights the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights leading East Africa is responding to issues of Extra Judicial Killings, Enforced Disappearance and the Death Penalty. He is among the youngest people to ever sit at any committee at that Level. He also heads the Legal Department at the Independent Medico-Legal Unit and a Hilton Prize Coalition Fellow 2020.
